An emerging theme across all professional sports has been to create unique ways to select the All Star Game roster. The NBA, for example, allows fans to vote for the starting lineup. The NFL lets two legends of the game act as coaches and draft their players. Major League Lacrosse takes both of these ideas and mashes them into a fans’ ultimate All Star Game experience.
Thanks to the MLL Ultimate Fan Fantasy competition, two lacrosse fans have the opportunity to select their dream MLL All Star team out of the players who have been voted for as the best in the league. This playground style draft with take place on June 12th, the night before the big game. This year’s All Star teams are in the hands of Hayden MacArthur and Ethan Sorkin.
Not only will these two have the opportunity to assemble their ultimate lacrosse team, but they will also participate in a variety of All Star Weekend festivities. Some of these activities and perks include:
- Custom jersey and fan pack
- Full access to players
- Player VIP dinner
- Breakfast with All Stars
- Sideline, bench, and team acess
- Take part in the All Star skills competition
Does the MLL take the cake for best fan involvement in an All Star Weekend? Should more professional sports take this approach?
